SASRD CELEBRATES IT’S 14TH ANNUAL FRESHER SOCIAL

The School of Agricultural Science and Rural Development, Medziphema held its 14th Annual Freshers Social at the school auditorium on 20th Sept.08’ to welcome the newly admitted students of both B.Sc. & M.Sc. (Ag.). The function was graced by Shri Pangnyu Phom, Parl. Secy. for Rural Development & REPA as the Chief Guest and Shri Metsubo Jamir, Director of Rural Development as the Guest of Honour. The welcome address was given by Prof. Imnayongdang, Dean, NU: SASRD and exhortation by the Guest of Honour. He exhorted the students to go for value based education and development of personality rather than just merely securing a degree. The Chief Guest in his Speech mentioned that the teachers make the highest contribution in shaping the future of the society. “Excellence comes when the performer takes pride in doing his job”. He also mentioned to the students that intellectual education influences the head but value based education influences the heart. “True education is training of both the head and the heart and the most important thing that one must know in education is to learn to learn”.
The programme was chaired by Mr. Kevizhalkou Kuotsu, President, SU:SASRD and it ended with vote of thanks from Mr. Chenithung Kithan, Gen. Secy. SU:SASRD.
