DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING

Thrust Areas of Research:

  • Electronic Circuit design
  • Microprocessor and Advanced Microprocessor
  • Digital Signal Processing
  • Communication System Engineering
  • VLSI
  • Mobile, Satellite and Fiber Optic Communication

Electronics and Communication has been the Third Revolution after Agriculture and Industrial Revolution. Electronics and Communication has shown the fastest rate of growth in less than 50 years, that more than 40% of the population are using Electronics and Communication in some form or the other. Electronics and Communication Engineering is about electronic components, integrated circuits and microprocessors and consists of designing, fabrication, testing, maintaining and supervising the manufacture of electronic equipments. This branch of Engineering has a key place in the field of Computers, Information Technology, Electrical, Power System Operations and Communication Systems. One of the key objectives of the Department is to bring about a cultural revolution through digital technology and demonstrate the spirit of sharing, and caring, by people who will create, collaborate and make Nagaland a better knowledgeable State than what it is now. The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering focuses to impart education and training at the undergraduate levels with special emphasis on design aspects of electronic systems. The training imparted to the students would be such that it will make them competent enough to be the fountainhead of new ideas and innovations in Science and Technology and who shall contribute its growth in partnership with industry and develop and harness it for the welfare of the Nagas and the nation.  Since it’s inception, the Department has progressed rapidly and is now well established with Basic and Advanced Electronics Lab. The Department is in the process of establishing more higher and advanced labs to supplement the course.
