ZOOMMAX 2009- The Management Festival

ZOOMMAX 2009- The Management Festival Zoommax 2009, the first management festival of the School of Management Studies, NU was organized by the MBA students of the Department of Management studies on 4th-6th Nov 2009. ZOOMMAX 2009- The Management FestivalThe festival with the theme “Reach the Next Level” was the first of its kind in Nagaland. Eighteen colleges in and around Dimapur took part in the multi events competition spread over three days. Many sponsored chipped in with big contribution to make the festival a grand success. Vodafone was the main title sponsored, NIDC and Crescendo, the co-sponsored. Financial assistance also came from many other organizations and individuals. Financial assistance was also provided by the University for the festival.

ZOOMMAX 2009- The Management FestivalThe festival was inaugurated with a colourful programme with Mr.Geoffrey Yaden, the editor of Nagaland Post as the Chief Guest. The Coordinator (admn i/c) SETAM, Head (i/c) Department of Management Studies, NU, faculties from School of engineering and Technology and School of Management Studies and faculties from participating colleges also attended the inaugural function. The welcome speech was delivered by Mr.Ekonthung Yanthan, a IInd year MBA student and also the convenor of the organizing committee of Zoommax 2009. L.Dorendro Singh, Head (i/c) Dept of Management Studies gave a brief introduction of the School of Management Studies and the activities undertaken by the department. In his Chief Guest address, Mr.Geoffrey Yaden, exhorted the students from various colleges and the MBA students to prepare for the next level. He also expressed happiness at the various activities taken up by the department. The inaugural function included both songs and dances from guest artists.

Once the inaugural functions got over, it was back to business for the organizers. The first competition was the Quiz Competition, followed by the extempore speech. Many guest artists also enthralled the crowd with melodious songs and acrobatic dances. Come day II, the penultimate day and it was another packed day. ZOOMMAX 2009- The Management FestivalThe day opened with the Singing Competition. Music is a way of life for the people of Nagaland, and they have lived up to their name. It was an intensely competed event and the judges also shared the tough time they had judging the best from the best. The mega event of the day was the Fashion Show which finally crowned the Mr and Miss Zoommax 2009. Day III, the final day of the festival, was not less entertaining as the day begins with the dance competition. The crowd had an entertaining time as many colleges showed their acrobatic skills along with many innovative synchronized steps. Other events held were essay, debating, painting competition and beat competition.

The festival ended on the evening of 6th Nov in another grand closing ceremony. The closing function was graced by Mr.Veprasa Nyekha NJS, Additional District & Session Judge as the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest distributed the prizes to the winners. Patkai Christian College emerged as the best college of the festival. Vodafone also awarded many lucky winners with attractive prizes.

All in all it was a festival organized with near perfection in a very short period of time. It was a function for the students by the students. Class room teaching of organizing, managing, delegating was put into practice as all events were conducted smoothly. It was a good sight to see MBA students professionally executing the responsibilities assigned to them. The MBA students were also successful in roping in mega sponsors for the festival. For the MBA students it wasn’t just a festival, but the test of their organizing and event management skills. At the end it was a grand success which will remain etched in their memory for many, many more years....
